About James
With over 30 years of experience in executive leadership and investment advisory roles, James is a trusted partner to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients. His knowledge spans both traditional and alternative asset classes, enabling him to deliver thoughtful, integrated investment strategies that align with each client’s personal financial objectives and broader wealth planning needs.
James is known for his collaborative approach, working closely with clients’ legal, tax, and other professional advisers to design highly-personalized solutions that aim to preserve and grow wealth across generations.
Before joining the team, James was a Managing Partner at Bordeaux Wealth Advisors. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of a global single-family office, where he set the strategic vision, drove firm growth, and offered exceptional client service. His previous leadership roles include Chief Operating Officer at Harris myCFO and Principal & Chief Administrative Officer at Gresham Partners, where he advised ultra-high-net-worth families on complex wealth management issues. James began his investment career at William Blair & Company, where he spent 13 years and ultimately served as Chief Financial Officer of the institutional asset management group.
A resident of Menlo Park, California, James enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. Outside the office, he is passionate about travel, art, wine collecting, golf, and running.
Education and Professional Milestones
James holds a BA with honors in Financial Administration from Michigan State University, where he received the Financial Executives Institute Award for Academic Excellence. He earned his MBA in Finance, Management & Strategy, and Organizational Behavior from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. James is a CFA charterholder and member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco. He also served on the Finance Advisory Board for the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University for twenty years.
